A Simple Guide to Understanding WEB3.0

Hash iamge

WEB3.0 is the upcoming “third-generation” of the internet. The idea behind WEB3.0 is that websites and apps can process information similar to a human through technology such as Big Data and machine learning. Originally called the Semantic Web by the creator of the World Wide Web, the aim was to become a more open and autonomous internet. Web3.0 focuses on data being interconnected and in a decentralized way. The current version of the internet, known as WEB2.0, means that data is stored in centralized components. WEB3.0 means that users and machines can interact with the data. And this is where Semantic Web and AI are the two fundamental cornerstones that need focusing on.

How Does WEB3.0 Operate?

WEB3.0 networks go through decentralized protocols, which are the fundamentals of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. This means that they will be integrated and automated through “smart contracts” and can be used to power anything from data file storage to transactions in another country, and will completely alter how companies and organizations operate their business.

The Key Features of WEB3.0

There are four key aspects of WEB3.0:

Ubiquity

Literally meaning “being everywhere,” while WEB2.0 was already ubiquitous, for example, a Facebook user capturing an image and sharing it, WEB3.0 goes one step further by making the internet accessible to everyone at any time and any place. There will be a time when you don’t need to connect to the internet via computers or smartphones. This is what the Internet of Things (IoT) technology will bring.

Semantic Web

Semantics is known as the study of words and their relationships. The Semantic Web would enable computers to analyze different types of data from the web, such as transactions and content in word form. Semantics in the web world would mean that machines can easily decode meaning and emotions from the words and infer the meaning from what is being communicated.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AI is classed as a machine. WEB3.0 machines can decipher and read meaning from a wide variety of data, making it more intelligent. Although WEB2.0 has already displayed some AI characteristics, it is predominantly human-based. However, AI has begun to make its mark. For example, the AI system by Google removed approximately 100,000 negative reviews of an app. AI will fit in with WEB3.0, allowing blogs and platforms to naturally sift through data and tailor them accordingly.

Spatial Web and 3D Graphics

WEB3.0 is also known as the Spatial Web because it is meant to blur the line between the digital and physical by revolutionizing graphics and bringing them into 3D virtual worlds.

The WEB3.0 version of the internet is going to bring a more customized and personal experience with more decentralized benefits that aim to make the web a more equal playing field. When it arrives fully, we will see the benefits of how it advances digital realms like the blockchain to bring major change to the modern world and the web as we know it.
